‘Umbrae’ : shadow-scape | 2024

«there should be a ghost in every picture».
The story of Kwashin Koji, ‹Japanese Ghost Stories›

‹umbrae›: the invariable or characteristic of a person or thing, a phantom or shadowy
image, an apparition, as someone, something, a spectral image.

The series revolves around the notion of a changing environment, natural fragility
and resilience. The shadow of future decay behind current life.
The layering of ‘growth’ in colour, what one day may no longer be,
on a ‘shadow’ of black & white, representing a background of what one day may be.

Main piece, framed and backlit, 18 framed 18x18cm double layered ohp inkjet folio
prints. 130x66cm

all individual ‘umbrae’ images available as double layered museum glass prints 18×18
/ 40x40cm. Edition of 6 + 2 AP.
From 6x6cm Fuji Slide and Ilford HP5 B&W film.
